When the Greens invited all of their old friends, they sent out invitations.

Hello,
I would like to ask a question about the sentence in the thread title.

When the Greens invited all of their old friends, they sent out invitations.

Does the sentence mean "the Greens decided to invite their friends, and then they sent out invitation cards"?

Thank you in advance.

I would assume the events are simultaneous. Sending an invitation is equivalent to inviting someone.

The Greens decided to have a big party. So they sent invitations to all of their old friends.
