"When + participle" as adverbial modifier

When editing a mathematical paper, I came across the following sentence:

"When integrating this function, the order of singularity decreases."

The participle "integrating" has no subject here. Is this sentence grammatically correct?

Top answer

"The participle "integrating" has no subject here. Is this sentence grammatically correct? It's fine.

  • "The participle "integrating" has no subject here.
  • Is this sentence grammatically correct?
  • It's fine.
  • You can put an -ing form after 'when', 'before', and 'after' (and probably after other subordinators that I can't think of just now).
