When or after?

1) When I am in college,
2) After I get into college,

Q1) Which would you choose? Both are ok?
Q2) Would it be better to say, "summer vacations" instead of "summer vacation?"

Thank you very much for your answer:) Do you think that is because the choice of "After I get in college" sounds more like talking about immediate future, say, after a couple of days or weeks after you get into college? This kind of nuance is very hard to tell from a non-native speaker:(
