When 'need' encounters 'only' ..

To experts who are really expert at this issure:

"..it includes A and B, and you need only take B.." So, what's the exact meaning of "need only"? "must"? or "both A and B are ok, and B is recommended"? or somthing else?

Thanks from leo

Hi,

The speaker is saying that it is only necessary for you to take B.

It sounds like you can also take A if you want to.

Clive, thanks for the explanation, and what if I dont take A and just use B instead of A? Can it be in accord with what the speaker means?

Actually, to tell the truth, that's ".. IELTS has two types: Academic test and General Training test. You need only take GT test.. "

all the best

Hi,

If you just take B, you are ignoring the speaker's opinion.
