When is it appropriate to use the word junction and intersection?

When you're giving someone directions when do you use these words?

When I talk about where two streets meet, I sometimes say eg The bank is at the intersection of Smith street and King street, But I usually just say eg The bank is at Smith and King. I never say 'junction' for this. Clive

When I talk about where two streets meet, I sometimes say

But I usually just say
eg The bank is at Smith and King.

I never say 'junction' for this.

I think junction are where highways meet other roads.

Intersection applies to roads in a city or town. Be careful crossing streets. Cross only at an intersection.
