Grammar

when forming a possessive is not good

Hi,

If someone wants to make a possessive out of those words that are long, what should he/she do? Is it OK? I don't know what the underlined committee is if you ask me. It looks like some made-up name.

The committte of pre-conference preparation task force's decision is that it might not be the right course of action for us to take at this time. Sorry to inform you this.

", but I don't know if there are any rules of thumb. If there are, I would like to know them too. I know that you can say "The guy in the pic's face looks familiar", but I don't know how much more or much less idiomatic it would be to say "The face of the guy in the pic looks familiar".

Hi,
I think that's one of those cases where you would need to say "The decision of the Committee of...", but I don't know if there are any rules of thumb. If there are, I would like to know them too. Agreed - write "The decision of..."

The only rule is that if it's long enough to make your reader say "Huh?" it's too long.
