when compared

Is when compared redundant in the sentence?

This results in about a 2.3x crop factor when compared to full-frame cameras, as opposed to the typical 2x crop for normal Micro Four Thirds cameras, which puts the GH4 into slightly weird territory when it comes to using lenses. It’s smaller than normal Micro Four Thirds and larger than super 16mm, making native lenses hard to find.

Thank you
