When can I use "fruit" and when "fruits"?

What's the difference between "fruit" and "fruits"? When can I use "fruit" and when "fruits"?
I like eating fruit/fruits and vegetables that are of great benefit to our health.

This is not wrong but it is what I would call "Chinglish" in many Chinese learners because this construction actually is the English equivalent of the Chinese translation. When you like certain foods, the meaning already implit "eating" and is not neccessary to say " I like eating xxx
