When a bullet only scarches a part of your body...

Hi

Is there any word for a situation when a bullet doesn't really cause an injury to you; it only scratches/scrapes a part of your body and flies past.

Is this sentence natural?

The bullet didn't really hit him; it scraped his thigh and flew past.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Tom

The common phrase is "a grazing wound." The common verb is graze.

The bullet grazed his thigh.

Thanks, Clive and Alphecca Stars.

So, is this sentence natural now? Or too graphic?

The bullet didn't really hit him; it just grazed his thigh and flew past.

It's OK, but I wouldn't add 'and flew past'. It's unnecessary.

There is also this possibility:

The bullet didn't really hit him; it [made / left] only a glancing wound in his thigh (as it flew past).
