2. We appreciate you for your kindness. or
We appreciate your kindness.

3. He was absent for a business trip. or
He was absent because of a business trip.

4. It is not allowed to smoke here.

5. The department store is attracting a lot of clients by lowering prices.

6. He didn't mind to show me the way to the hotel.

#1: 'asked' requires the preposition. #2: 'appreciate' does not accept the preposition. #3: 'for' is the wrong preposition.

clients - want services (lawyers, and doctors have clients)
customers - want goods (stores have customers)

6. He didn't mind to show me the way to the hotel. (mind showing me the way to the hotel.)
mind + v-ing (mind doing something)Ex: Would you mind answering the phone?
