I'm not quite sure what is going on with these replies, but here is my critique of the sentence.

It sounds like the kind of abbreviated English syntax that news services send out. It is also a very poor sentence, and the meaning is not clear.

Hi Clive,

Thank you for your correction. The sentence is my market comment that I do after the equity market close. Obviously, if anyone is not observing the equity market, the sentence is not clear as well as it is grammatically incorrect. The combination of not-in-the-field and incorrect grammer makes it harder to understand.

The market could anticipate a pause from the (or 'an', if an increase is only a possibility)increase in the ST interest rate by the FOMC on 9/20. The pause will help both the Katrina rebuilding project and (omit 'the') consumer confidence, as the year end approaches.
