What's ventipane?

From Google I guess it's a trade mark device which has to do with the ventilation system of some old (?) cars, but I didn't get to know what it exactly is.

Thanks

There are some pictures at http://collections.slsa.sa.gov.au/resource/PRG+1312/4/page:3 that seem to show it as a small triangular pane of glass that swivels open to provide ventilation.

A horizontal window in the car roof. It may be open when needed.

Wow!! Apparently it's the name that I never knew for those little triangular windows that cars no longer have!!

I see no evidence that the same word can be used for a window in the roof of a car. I believe that's called a sun roof.
