"What's up?" - What does it exactly mean? What could be natural answers to such a question? Is the question "what's up with your friends" a questions about my friends' news?

And one more question: can i say about a person that they are artificial (meaning not real, unnatural, pretending)?

I usually say: "Not much", "Nothing much", or "Not a lot". Because there's never a lot going on, right?

Or if you want to be sarcastic: "The ceiling" or "The sky" -- depending on where you are at the moment of speaking.
