I would say "close friend." (Personally, I wouldn't use "platonic friend" unless I was correcting someone who assumed the relationship was sexual or romantic.)

Sorry guys if my description is kind of vague, but I'm looking for a word that represents a very close platonic relationship like blood brothers, something like that.
