What's the word to describe the sound that it makes when you step on the shell of a snail and it breaks?

e.g. when you shut the door hard, it bangs. when something heavy hits the floor, you hear a thud. When you hit a spoon against a glass, it pings. What about the sound it makes when you step on a snail's shell and it's crushed.
