What's the word/phrase?

to describe the action of lifting up the edge or corner of a playing card slightly with your index finger and thumb to take a peak at what hands you've got like in poker when the cards are dealt to you.

Oh no, I'm sorry if I gave the wrong idea. It's simply an act of lifting up the cards slighty to see your hands. I wanted to know if there is a precise word or phrasal verb to describe that, sorry again.

I would just say "He peeked (not "peaked") at his cards" or perhaps "He stole a glance at his cards."
