What's the usage of "as" here?

"What they believe may or may not be truer than what we believe, but all of us should not be as tempted to be certain that we have the truth."


Q. What's the usage of "as" here? Is it correct? If so, what's the meaning of it?

thanks3 usage of "as" It sounds wrong to me, but I couldn't easily get that far because of the "all ... " construction just before that. That kind of construction should be avoided where possible.
