What's the sins of the fathers?

Hi, I'm Brazilian and just would like to know what's this expression(idiomatic expression, I guess as it doesn't make sense literally). Could anybody please explain using other words?

Dialogue:

You shouldn't have invited Reinhart here.
You're a difficult woman, Letitia.
-No. Not difficult. Only afraid.
-Oh, so that's it?
The sins of the fathers, huh?

Thanks in advance.
