what's the meaning of this "keep knocking"

I watched a movie and didnt understand that phrase.

the situation I saw that phrase that police came up to a house that happened a homicide by someone

and a policeman said "keep knocking." to their partner who were seaching something helping them find murder.

what is the meaning?

Keep knocking is not a common idiomatic phrase. The way I see it, it could just mean:
1. Keep knocking at the door. Was the partner knocking at the door trying to get someone to open it?
2. Keep hitting something. Was the partner hitting something with his club?
3. Keep making noise. Was the partner hitting something and making noise?
