What's the meaning

of done and out here?

"I only have problems getting to sleep once in a while, when that happens it's usually a case of can't shut off the brain. Happens more often when I'm really caught up on sleep.

Most of the time, I'm just done and out. Frequently end up sleeping with the light on just because I passed out before I could get up and turn it off. Between that and background noise and/or light from a TV it's probably miraculous that I'm rested at all but somehow I am."

Thanks a million!

Jin_H...... " I only have problems getting to sleep once in a while , when that happens it's usually a case of can't not being able to shut off the brain. You can't use a comma there ; you need a semicolon or a period.

I looked up the meaning, but it doesn't seem to fit the context. I'm guessing they didn't include the other meaning in the dictionary.

The meaning of "down and out" in the sleep article is 'As soon as I lie down on the bed I'm out.' ( out = asleep)
