What's the meaning

of dropped off some food here? Does it mean to become fewer or less?

"A former cop here was notorious as the biggest cheapskate around, but the final straw was this gem.

There was a local restaurant owner (fried chicken place) that was very friendly to the local officers. Not only did he offer 1/2 priced food to officers, but did a ton of catering and always brought the extras to the police station for no charge.

One day, Cheapie went through the drive thru, bought the $5 special for $2.50 and proceeded to the station. Once he got there, he found out that the chicken place had just dropped off some food. He gets back into his car and drives across town and demands his money back.

Pissed off the owner so bad, no more free food and no more discount..."

Thanks a million!

Perhaps someone at the police station ordered some food, or perhaps the owner just wanted to give the cops some food.
