What's the meaning

the highlighted part is the part that I'm totally confused about.

"My friend's ex-business partner was pretty bad. He flew on the anniversary of 9-11 on the hope that flights would be cheaper that way, he pre-paid for 30 sandwiches because he wanted a deal from the mom and pop restaurant on he corner, and the company paid for my friends cellphone as a company expense and even though my friend did ~100% of the income generating for the business he circled a few personal calls that amounted to under $10 and left the phone bill on his desk."

What income generating for the business? What does circle mean here?

Thanks a million!
