What's the meaning

of forte here? Nothing seems to make sense in the dictionary.

"I built one(huge snowman) about half that size once, which we ended up hollowing and using as a forte for snow ball fights with neighbors... you can cover your entry hole with a plastic sleigh and be completely protected, only to pop it open and chuck a snowball at your little sister."

And also does he meant hollowing it out here?
