What's the meaning

euthanasia: the practice of intentionally ending a life in order to relieve pain and
suffering.

what does practice here mean in this case?

1. action rather than ideas

2. a way of doing something that is the usual or expected way in a
particular organization or situation

3. a thing that is done regularly; a habit or a custom

Hi My own understanding would be (1) from your list With words like euthanasia, there are two different aspects: on the one hand, the philosophy and discussion of euthanasia; on the other hand the actual carrying out of an act of euthanesia In countries where euthanasia is illegal there will be people who advocate it - they argue for it - they put forward rational and humane arguments in favour of it. However, they may well take the view that they themselves would not practice it so long as it is illegal So, you have the idea of euthanasia (which may or may not be a valid idea); but you also have the practice of it - the act itself. That is how I would understand the word practice here Regards, Dave
