What's the easiest and most useful way of learning new words ?

0 just to write them seems very boring. Isn't there any other more interesting way of learning them ? 0-

0 It's always helpful to keep them in groups. As you read a newspaper, take down unfamiliar words, grouping into words from economics, words from entertainment, words from sports, words from politics, and so on. Grouping by similar meanings and opposite meanings (especially opposites) is very helpful, too.
