What's the difference between varied and various?

Dear teachers,

Do "varied" and "various" have the same meaning?

"various kinds of exhibitions" and "varied kinds of exhibitions"

"various types of idols" and "varied types of idols"

They are NOT identical. Only meaning 2 here is the same with both: ----------- varied Function: adjective Etymology: from past participle of vary 1 : CHANGED , ALTERED 2 : having numerous forms or types : VARIOUS , DIVERSIFIED , DIVERSE <a varied experience> < varied interests> < varied scenery> 3 : marked conspicuously or contrastingly with several colors : VARIEGATED -------- I'd say various shows more change/difference than varied in many circumstances, but they can be synonymical in others.
