what's the difference between "won't be getting back" and "won't get back"?

Hi all,
While I was watch a TV show I heard a girl said "We will not be getting back together"
couldn't she have said "we will not get back together"?
can someone please help me to figure out what's the different between these sentences?

Thank you!
