What's the difference between question and query?

sometimes i don't know when it is appropriate to use the noun query or question. I think there is subtle between them.

By the way, what are the common ways to ask a question? For example, when I ask a question, usually i would say ' Excuse me, may I ask a question about....'.

Guys, just give me some suggestions how to appropriately ask a question.Thanks.

Hello, Daniel - and welcome to English Forums. A query is generally an extended request for information; it is a rather formal word, and is not generally used in the classroom, where we simply ask questions . Excuse me, may I ask a question about...?
