What's the difference between Holland, Dutch and Netherlands

A minor detail, but there are 2 provinces in The Netherlands - North Holland and South Holland. These are the most densely populated of all the provinces. Amsterdam and Haarlem are in North Holland, The Hague and Rotterdam are in South Holland.
Holland has long been a "nickname" for the country

That is irrelevant to the discussion of The Netherlands. Danish is the language of Denmark or a type of sweet bread that we have at breakfast.
