OK , I've just done this.

but

Is this sentence correct:

He is a sporting hero. OR He is a sporty hero.

Both sporting and sporty are adjcetives.

Also,

My son is a champion. OR My son is an athlete.

Which one of them is more correct?

The first case is complicated, and it would be helpful to have some more context, but I think what you mean to say is:

"He is a hero at sports."

Although "hero" isn't really a word I would use to describe someone who is good at sports.

In the second case, both of those sentences are correct, but they mean very different things.
