What's the difference

What's the difference between these 2 statements? Can someone kindly advise?

1) This website was created by me
2) This website is created by me

Am a tad confused which is the correct choice as both look correct to me. Since the website was created long ago by me, Option 1 is correct. But it is also true today that I am still the creator of the website, hence Option 2 is right too.
