When do we use one or the other?

Top answer

Hi Revenge is usually something that is carried out by a person, either rightly or wrongly. Vengeance is usually carried out by a higher power, as a matter of justice I'm not religious, but here is Romans 12:18 - Never take your own revenge: for it is written, vengeance is mine , I will repay, sayeth the Lord That nicely brings out the distinction: people should refrain from revenge. But *** is entitled to vengeance (if you are religiously minded) Dave
