A: I've been staying in the sun for 3 hours.
B: I've stayed in the sun for 3 hours.

In A., it would be unnecessary to include both “been” and “staying”. Either “I’ve been in the sun or I’ve stayed in the sun…”
B. This version is the preferred version. The tense is questionable, however. Why not past tense, “I stayed in the sun for 3 hours.”?
