What's the difference

what's the difference between 'alter' and 'revise'

they all have the same meaning, "change" , right?

but i don't know the difference between the two.

plz show me some examples.

revise is used more like "edit"

"I will revise this answer at a later date"

"I will edit this answer at a later date"

alter can be used more like "change"

" I will alter the length of my skirt"

"I will change the length of my skirt"

revise can also mean "review...to look at again"

"I must revise for my exam"
