What's the difference ?

I wonder if anyone knows the difference between these two sentences :

This train is fast.

This is a fast train.

first sentence emphasizes - verb fast
second one - adjective fast

In neither of the original sentences is "fast" a verb!
It is an adjective describing the train in both.
