What's the correct answer here?

Hi guys

What's the correct answer?

- She _______ him before 1968
a) has seen
b) saw
c) had seen
d) seen

And why?

I'm confused between "has seen" and "had seen".

Hi Penicillin I'd pick (b) saw . The present perfect doesn't work here because "before 1968" is too specific. Depending on the broader context, (c) had seen would also be justifiable.
