I don't understand the question. I understand the sentence to mean that when you first glance at a girl she looks very attractive, but when you get a better look, she's not nearly as attractive as you first thought.

But, I don't know that there is a word for that, although there are a lot of slang words that mean an unattractive female. But, I'm not aware of any word that means a girl who gives an initial impression of being attractive at a glance, but upon closer examination is not very attractive.

Maybe some of our younger contributors are aware of a slang word that means that. A young friend of mine tells me that the Jersey Shore guys (Jersey Shore is a reality TV show in the U.S.) call unattractive girls "grenades," and the really unattractive ones, "bombs." Apparently, sometimes they think a girl is attractive when they first see her and she turns out to be a grenade.

It's funny that "bomb" now, at least in that culture, apparently, means really unattractive girl, because in the 50s and 60s, a girl described as a bomb, short for bombshell, was the height of attractiveness and sexual appeal. Marilyn Monroe was the ultimate "bomb" or blond bombshell.

Glad you enjoyed it. At my young friend's urging, I watched a show called "Jerseylicious" last night, which, from what I could discern, is about a hair salon in New Jersey (they never said where in NJ), with a rather literary name, strangely enough, (the Gatsby) and the people who work there, and their families and associates. I'd mentioned the "me and my mother" discussion and said I seldom heard that construction. She advised me to check out that show where she rightly described its usage as ubiquitous. It included a constant stream of, "Me and Frankie" (not only the wrong order, but it was used as the subject of a sentence, "me and this person, me and that person, etc., etc., etc." It was used for both the subjective and objective forms.

So, clearly, at least among some sets in New Jersey, that has become the standard. Not one person on the show ever said it correctly, either in case, or in order, and it was an hour long show (seemed much longer!) with a lot of "me and X" sprinkeld throughout. It made me realize there is a whole different culture out there (and probably many of them) that I know absolutely nothing about!

I wanted to check out the Jersey Shore guys, but my friend tells me it is over for the season, so I guess I have to wait until next year to do that research.
