What's that saying that the only thing that matters is passing the test

Like your driver's test. I think I heard someone say "it doesn't matter whether you're a true blue or a blade runner as long as you pass the test."
I searched it online but can't find it... did i grt it wrong?

Thanks! Yeah! I hear that for the first time when I was in the military from a US sergeant after my driver's licence test. I guess it bothered me for so long that I'm finally posting it online to check if there is anyone else that ever heard such an expression.

but is there any expression that sort of has this meaning?
