What's position my tongue supposed to be?

Hello everyone. I'm from Russia. I do fancy learning the American accent and wanted to know what position my tongue needs to be. I tried googling and nothing found, some people said my tongue needed to be at the bottom of my month, some of them told me it needed to be at the highest position possible. So, my question is what exactly position my tongue needs to be when I talk?

P.S.: we, Russians, have a different articulation from the American/British ones. When I talk, my tongue is at the bottom sometimes going up but not so high.

I'm a native English speaker in the US, and it seems to me that the tongue is generally held in the center of the mouth, not touching the top or bottom of the mouth, when speaking. Of course, in order to pronounce various sounds the tongue might go up or down and touch the top or bottom of the mouth, but then it will go back to the center of the mouth. This is where the "American accent" apparently comes from, the tongue in the center of the mouth, not touching anything, most of the time.
