what's it called

Hi!

what do you call the process a nurse grabbing a new born out of a pregnant, ready-to-give-birth woman.

'A nurse(or doctor) must be wearing pastic gloves during a ______, otherwise gems on their hands could infect the opened up area'

Anyone knows the official term? Thanks in advance- Terr

Hi there, It's possible to say: 'A nurse(or doctor) must be wearing pastic gloves during a delivery , otherwise gems on their hands could infect the opened up area' 'A nurse(or doctor) must be wearing pastic gloves during a giving-birth phase , otherwise gems on their hands could infect the opened up area' I'd recommend the first one, simple & easy.

"during delivery" is good, but "the opened up area" is not. It's vague. How about "to reduce the likelihood of infection to the mother"?

It seems that I didn't pay attention to the last part of the sentence quite well..

Thanks for the clarification.

Hi guys,

. . . otherwise gems on their hands could infect the opened up area

Somebody needs to tell these nurses to take their rings off.

Hi!

Thanks for all the very detailed and insightful helps and corrections. I was thinking the possibility for 'receive', it seemed unlikely and I couldn't move onto 'delivery'.

'A nurse(or doctor) must be wearing pastic gloves during a DELIVERY, otherwise GERMS on their hands could INCREASE THE CHANCE of infecting the mother'. Thanks-Terr

And how about plastic gloves, instead of pastic gloves? Even better, how about latex gloves?
