What's "hufflepuff" supposed to mean?

Especially when you apply that to a person?

It seems like an American slang which I looked up in the Urban Dictionary on-line but to no avail,

no one on there offered a good explanation.

It is a proper name in the Harry Potter books - one of the four houses of Hogwarts. com/wiki/Hufflepuff As far as I know, it has not escaped into the vernacular as a common noun. Oxford students just voted to name their common rooms Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin.

Hi,

It's one of the 4 'houses' that Harry Potter's school is divided into. Members of it are referred to as 'Hufflepuffs'. Have a look here.
