What's "cachuelo" in English?

Hi, pals.

I'd like to know if you can tell me which is the slang in AM or BR English for "a temporary, informal job". In Spanish, we say "cachuelo". I'm interested in the slang for "cachuelo", I mean the equivalent.

ThanX in advance.

Cheers,

Musicians us the term "gig" [both g s are hard] to refer to a short term of employment (even for just one performance). I don't know if that has spread into general use or not.

Thank you very much, Philip. You're right.

And, what would be the British equivalent for "gig" as a temporary job?
