I use this word when I wanted to borrow some money from the accounting dept and I will reimburse later when I get my salary.

If 'advance' is money then it can give you the 'ability' to do something. Do you want to take it from there?

Hi Maj.

In this case 'advance' appears to be money. So substitute 'money' for 'advance' and see if it makes sense. 'Advance' being 'money' is an inanimate object and as such, cannot do anything. It is what you can do with the 'advance'
