what/how

Hello Sir,

When we make a exclamatory sentence , we mostly use what or how.

I am confused about it. for example

1. What beautiful flowers these are!

2. How beautiful these flowers are!

I want to know how I can decide what to be used.

I need your expert opnion.

Thanks and regards.

1. What + adjective + noun...!

2. How + adjective...!

I would say that #2 simply describes something; whereas #1 describes something in terms of its kind.

Thus in your examples, #1 implies 'how beautiful these are, compared with other flowers!'; whereas #2 simply means 'how beautiful these are!'.

But let's see if anyone has a different idea.
