Can the sentences above be expressed by using "whether" like the sentences below?

Isn't it the exact copy from Polish? Polish direct yes/no questions need to be introduced by the question word "czy" (translated into English by "whether" but only in indirect questions, sort of I wonder whether.../zastanawiam
