Whatever

Hi,

I am wondering what "whatever" in the sentence below means.

"Whatever he said only made her angry."

1. anything (He said just one thing. The speaker doesn't know what it was, though.)

2. everything (he probably said many things to calm her down, but none of them worked.)

3. ambiguous

Thanks in advance.

handtalk.
