What words are omitted before "something"?

I guess some words are omitted before "something" in the following sentence. What are they?

Nancy and Ed had taken her two children, Jeff and Katie, into their home as part of their family, something they had promised Barb they would do.

No words are omitted, but you could add 'which was' if you wish.
