What word is more suitable?

What word is more suitable in this sentence? To me, both are fine, so I can't decide...what do you think?
We were both afraid/anxious that we would miss the plane.

Top answer

From the two I would say "afraid" because anxiety is quite strong. Although I think maybe both are very strong emotions, I would probably say "worried".
