What type are these texts?

Hi! what is the type of the texts written for advertisements that we find in the newspapers and magazines. The purpose of these texts is usually to persuade people to do something. (buy a product, visit a place, donate money...)

Are they called persuasive texts?

A colleague of mine says that they are called promotional texts. Which one is correct? thanks a lot fo your help.
