what to use instead of the word release

I have a question,it's from our english exam some weeks ago,there was a sentence saying"when you excercise,your body releases endorphins,release means..."and then there was 4 choices which two of them were raise and set,as a native speaker which one do you think is better and should be used instead of release thank you in advance
